1. What Athan is

Athan is a utility app that computes the five daily Islamic prayer times (Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha) and the Qibla direction toward Makkah. The times are calculated from your geographic position using established astronomical formulas (Adhan calculation methods such as ISNA, MWL, Umm al-Qura, Egyptian, Karachi, and Tehran), with selectable madhhab rules for the Asr time.

Prayer times produced by Athan are derived from public algorithms and your device’s clock and location. They are intended as a respectful aid to your own practice. Athan is not a religious authority. The final responsibility for the correctness of your prayer remains with you and your local scholarly sources.

The Qibla compass uses the device magnetometer and is subject to environmental interference (metal objects, magnets, indoor structures). It is an aid, not a precision navigation instrument.

2. Licence to use the App

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, Lumen Labs grants you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use Athan on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use.

You may not:

• copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, rent, or sublicense any part of the App or its assets;
• reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code, except to the limited extent that applicable law (for example EU Directive 2009/24/EC) permits;
• remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices;
• use the App to develop a competing product, or to train any machine learning model;
• use the App in a way that violates applicable law, infringes the rights of others, or disrupts the App’s operation.

All rights not expressly granted are reserved by Lumen Labs.

3. Free tier and Athan Plus

3.1 Free tier

The core — accurate prayer times, sunrise, Hijri date, the default adhan voice, notifications for all five prayers, the Qibla direction, your personal Salah streak, and a basic qadaa (missed-prayer) counter — is free forever, and remains free even if you never subscribe to Athan Plus.

3.2 Athan Plus (subscription, with a lifetime option)

Athan Plus unlocks the full feature set: family prayer circles (a local, on-device household prayer board), the qadaa make-up planner, the 12+ reciter adhan library and per-prayer voice, dual/multi- city prayer times, home-screen and lock-screen widgets, the Apple Watch complication, Ramadan mode, prayer journal, monthly Salah report with PDF export, Quiet Time (DND / Focus integration), Hijri calendar with Islamic events, the 99 Names of Allah daily card, and the in-app Privacy Receipt.

Athan Plus is offered as three options, all of which unlock the same features:

• Annual — $19.99 / year, preceded by a 7-day free trial. After the trial the annual price is charged automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the trial ends. Renews yearly until cancelled.
• Monthly — $3.99 / month, renewing monthly until cancelled.
• Lifetime — $49.99, a one-time non-consumable purchase. No subscription, no renewal — pay once and the unlock is yours on every device signed in to the same Apple ID or Google account.

Prices are in USD; Apple and Google may display the local, tax-inclusive price for your region, and may adjust regional pricing over time.

3.3 Billing, auto-renewal, and cancellation

Athan Plus is sold and billed through the Apple App Store (StoreKit) on iOS and Google Play Billing on Android, with entitlements managed via RevenueCat. Lumen Labs does not charge your card directly and does not have access to your payment method.

• Auto-renewing subscriptions (Monthly / Annual). Payment is charged to your Apple ID / Google account at confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically for the same period and price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
• Free trial. If you do not cancel before the 7-day trial ends, the annual subscription begins and you are charged. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited if you buy the lifetime unlock during the trial.
• Managing / cancelling. You can manage or cancel a subscription, or turn off auto-renewal, in your Apple ID account settings (Settings → your name → Subscriptions) or Google Play → Subscriptions at any time. Deleting the App does not cancel a subscription.
• Lifetime. The lifetime option is a one-time charge with nothing to renew or cancel.
• Family Sharing. Where the platform permits, Athan Plus participates in Apple Family Sharing and Google Play Family Library so the household can share access.
• Restore Purchases. On a new or reinstalled device, tap Restore on the paywall to re-grant your entitlement.

3.4 Refunds

Refunds are issued by Apple and Google under their own policies, not by Lumen Labs.

• Apple App Store: request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.
• Google Play: request a refund within 48 hours of purchase from your order history, or contact Google Play Support for older orders.
• EU / UK consumers:if you are entitled to a statutory 14-day “withdrawal right” cooling-off period, you may exercise it by contacting Apple or Google directly; please note that by initiating use of digital content with our consent you may be waiving that right under applicable law.
• If Apple or Google refers you to us for a refund, email [email protected] with your order reference; we will work with the store to resolve it.

3.5 Feature availability

An active Athan Plus entitlement (or the lifetime unlock) grants the Plus feature set as it exists during your entitlement, and future Plus features added while your entitlement is active. The entitlement is bound to the Apple ID or Google account that made the purchase, not to a specific device. If Athan is ever discontinued, we will give reasonable notice; for lifetime purchasers, continued access will be honoured for as long as the published version still runs on supported OS versions.

4. Prohibited use

You agree not to:

• use Athan to harm, harass, threaten, or impersonate any person;
• circumvent or attempt to circumvent the paywall, entitlement system, or any feature gate;
• redistribute, mirror, or rehost the App’s adhan audio assets, icons, artwork, or compiled binary;
• use any automated system (bots, scrapers) to extract data from the App;
• use Athan in any safety-critical context where an error in prayer time or Qibla bearing could endanger life, health, navigation, or property.

We may suspend access for users who breach this section. If we permanently suspend an Athan Plus purchaser for a breach we did not adequately warn against, we will refund the most recent purchase amount (or, for a subscription, the current unused period).

5. Religious content disclaimer

Athan is provided as a respectful utility. We make best-effort use of the calculation methods published by recognised Islamic organisations. We are not a Mufti, Imam, or scholarly authority.

• Calculation methods produce slightly different times by design; pick the one your local mosque or community uses.
• Qibla bearings are approximate and subject to magnetic interference; for congregational prayer rely on the prayer hall’s mihrab.
• The Hijri date in the App is computed astronomically; your local moon-sighting authority may declare a different date for Ramadan, Eid, or other observances.

When in doubt, defer to your local scholar.

6. Privacy

Our handling of personal data is described in the Privacy Policy. By using Athan you also agree to that policy.

7. Updates to the App

We may update Athan to add features, fix bugs, or comply with platform requirements. Some updates may require a newer version of iOS or Android. We may discontinue support for an older OS in line with industry practice (typically the latest two major iOS versions and the latest three major Android versions).

8. Warranty disclaimer

Athan is provided “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE”. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Lumen Labs disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, and uninterrupted operation.

We do not warrant that:

• prayer times will be perfectly correct in every location, edge case, or edge timezone;
• the Qibla compass will be accurate in environments with magnetic interference;
• the App will be available without interruption;
• defects will be corrected immediately.

This section does not exclude or limit any warranty that cannot be excluded under your local law (e.g. statutory consumer guarantees in the EU, UK, or Australia).

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lumen Labs will not be liable for:

• indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages;
• loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill;
• damages arising from your reliance on the prayer times or Qibla bearing, including but not limited to missed prayers, missed Iftar, or missed congregations;
• damages arising from a third party’s processing of data (Apple, Google, RevenueCat, Sentry, PostHog) that you have authorised under our Privacy Policy.

Our aggregate liability for any claim relating to the App will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid Lumen Labs (through the App Store or Play Store) in the 12 months before the claim arose, or (b) US $20.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

10. Termination

You can stop using Athan at any time by deleting the App. We can suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or use the App in a way that exposes us or other users to legal risk. The “Licence” (Section 2), “Warranty disclaimer” (8), “Limitation of liability” (9), “Governing law” (11), and “General” (12) survive termination.

If you hold an Athan Plus subscription, deleting the App does not cancel it — cancel auto-renewal in your Apple ID or Google Play subscription settings. The lifetime unlock is a one-time purchase with nothing to cancel. If you reinstall Athan on the same Apple ID or Google account, your entitlement is restored automatically via the platform (or by tapping Restore).

11. Governing law and dispute resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in San Francisco County, California, and you and Lumen Labs consent to personal jurisdiction there.

If you are a consumer resident in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with mandatory local consumer-protection rules, you also retain the protection of the mandatory provisions of the law of your country of habitual residence, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts. Nothing in this section overrides those rights.

12. General

• Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any in-app disclosures, are the entire agreement between you and Lumen Labs regarding Athan.
• No waiver. A failure to enforce a right under these Terms is not a waiver of that right.
• Severability. If any clause is held unenforceable, the remaining clauses stay in force.
• Assignment. You may not assign these Terms. We may assign them to a successor entity (for example, in a merger or acquisition) on the same terms.
• Apple-specific terms.When you use Athan on an Apple device, you also acknowledge that Apple is not responsible for the App or any claims arising from it; Apple is, however, a third-party beneficiary of these Terms and may enforce them against you. The App must be used in compliance with Apple’s Media Services Terms and Usage Rules.
• Updates to Terms. We may update these Terms; material changes will be surfaced inside the App before they take effect.
