Please include, when relevant:
- the device model (e.g. iPhone 15 Pro, Pixel 8)

We do not need a screenshot of your location.
1. The times are off by a few minutes from my local mosque. Why?
The published prayer-time methods (ISNA, MWL, Umm al-Qura, Egyptian, Karachi, Tehran, etc.) each define slightly different solar angles for Fajr and Isha, and each madhhab has its own Asr rule. Two methods can disagree by 10–20 minutes for the same location on the same day, and both are valid.
To match your local mosque exactly:
- Open Settings → Calculation methodand pick the method your community uses (your mosque’s website or imam can confirm).
- Open Settings → Madhhaband pick Shafi’i, Hanafi, Maliki, or Hanbali. This only affects the Asr time.
- If you still see a small drift, double-check that Location in Settings is your current city, not a previous one.
Athan does not “round” times. The minute shown is the exact computed minute for your latitude, longitude, date, method, and madhhab.
2. The Qibla arrow is spinning / inaccurate. What can I do?
The Qibla compass uses your device magnetometer. It is sensitive to:
- being near metal objects, magnets, or wireless chargers;
- being inside a steel-frame building;
- a magnetometer that has never been calibrated.
The fix is the standard “figure-8 calibration”:
- Hold the phone flat in front of you, screen up.
- Slowly draw a figure-8 in the air with the phone for about 5 seconds.
- The arrow should snap to a stable bearing.
If the arrow still misbehaves after calibration, switch the phone to a different room (away from large appliances) and try again. If it continues to misbehave, your magnetometer may be damaged — please email us with your device model.
3. What does Athan Plus cost, and is it a subscription?
Athan Plus is one entitlement offered as three plans (USD):
- Annual — $19.99/year, with a 7-day free trial. The trial converts to a paid annual subscription unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. Cancel anytime.
- Monthly — $3.99/month. Cancel anytime.
- Lifetime — $49.99 once. This is a one-time, non-consumable purchase for people who would rather pay once than subscribe. Nothing renews.
The Annual and Monthly plans are auto-renewing subscriptions managed by Apple or Google; manage or cancel them in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Lifetime never renews.
If you ever switch devices or reinstall the app, open the paywall and tap Restore to re-grant Athan Plus from your original purchase.
4. I bought Athan Plus. Can I get a refund?
Refunds are decided by Apple and Google, not by us.
- Apple App Store: open reportaproblem.apple.com, find the Athan Plus purchase, and click “Report a problem”. Pick the reason that fits best and submit. To stop a subscription from renewing, cancel it in Settings → your name → Subscriptions before the renewal date.
- Google Play: open your order history within 48 hours of purchase and click “Request a refund”. For older orders, contact Google Play Support directly. To stop a subscription from renewing, cancel it under Play Store → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.
If Apple or Google decline the refund and you believe it was justified (e.g. a billing error, a duplicate charge), please email us at [email protected] with your order ID and we will advocate on your behalf.
5. How do I delete my account / my data?
Athan does not require an account, so there is normally nothing to delete on our side.
To wipe data from the device:
- Open Settings → Privacy → Erase local data. This clears your saved location, calculation method, madhhab, theme, saved cities, and adhan preferences.
- If you also want to remove the app entirely, long-press the icon and delete it. iOS and Android will purge the AsyncStorage and any cached adhan audio.
Your family prayer circle is part of this local data — it is a household board stored only on your device, so erasing local data removes it too. Nothing about your circle was ever sent off the phone.
If you used Sign in with Apple to restore your Athan Plus purchase, your opaque Apple user identifier is stored with RevenueCat. To delete that record:
- Open Athan and sign out (Settings → Account → Sign out), or
- Email [email protected] with the subject line “delete my data”.
We respond to deletion requests within 30 days and confirm by email.
For iCloud-synced settings (iOS only), go to iOS Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Storage → Athan and delete the entry.
6. I'm having a problem not covered here.
Email [email protected]. Real humans read every message. We try to reply within 48 hours, in English, Arabic, or Urdu.
